Descriptor
This qualification applies to individuals working as print machinists in the printing and graphic arts industry. Print machinists typically set up and operate letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, gravure printing presses, digital printers and work on a range of printed products. They prepare material, monitor and run equipment and machinery and apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems. They may also provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

Total number of units = 214 core units plus;
11 elective units from Group A plus;
6 elective units from Group B
Up to two elective units from Group A can be substituted with Group B elective units listed in the ICP30510 qualification outline.
One elective unit must be selected from Group B. The remaining elective units may be selected from Group B or C units.
One elective unit may be selected from the remaining elective units or from qualifications at the same level or one level higher, in this or any other endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
Elective units must be relevant to the qualification, job role, work outcome and industry requirements. Unit selection is by negotiation and mutual agreement between the employee, employer and the RTO and is based on enterprise and individual needs.
