Description
This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required to develop jewellery and object design solutions that require a wide range of specialised technical and creative skills. Design solutions reflect consideration of aesthetics, function, production techniques, material characteristics, and marketability of jewellery and objects. It is typically used to develop skills and knowledge in jewellery and object design enterprises. Skills gained from the qualification may be applied to specialist jewellery and object design briefs, including heritage jewellery, theatre and film commissions, exhibitions and churchware, as well one-off individual client briefs.
Assessment of some units of competency must, where indicated, include evidence of the candidate's performance in a functioning workplace where there is a sufficient range of appropriate tasks and materials to cover the scope of application of those units. All outcomes must reflect the standard of performance inherent in the job.
In some jurisdictions, units in this qualification may relate to licensing or regulatory requirements. Licensing and regulatory information is included in the relevant units of competency.

Packaging Rules
The requirement for achievement of the MEM60222 Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design is the achievement of competence in thirty-six (36) units of competency made up of:- completion of all core units of competency listed below and
- completion of fourteen (14) elective units of competency selected as follows:
- five (5) units of competency from Group A electives listed below and
- three (3) units of competency from Group B electives listed below and
- three (3) units of competency from Group C electives listed below and
- three (3) units of competency from Group D electives listed below and
- the thirteen (13) remaining elective units can be selected as follows, to bring the total number of elective units to twenty-seven (27):
- Group A, B, C or D electives not previously selected
- a maximum of five (5) units from Group E
- a maximum of six (6) elective units, suitable for occupational outcomes in a jewellery and object design environment which do not duplicate skills and knowledge already available in units within this qualification, may be chosen from this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available in an Advanced Diploma, Diploma (maximum 4 units) or Certificate IV (maximum 4 units) qualification.

Prerequisite units count towards the total number of units. Units with prerequisite requirements are marked with an asterisk on training.gov.au (TGA) (refer to the individual units for details). All prerequisites are included in the qualification.
