Description
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to repair and maintain the body of cars, heavy vehicles and other vehicles in the automotive industry.
Job roles and employment outcomes
The Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology prepares new employees or recognises and develops existing workers who are repairing, maintaining and re-manufacturing the body of vehicles in the automotive industry.
Job roles related to this qualification include:
vehicle body repair technician
vehicle body restoration technician
heavy vehicle body and chassis repair technician.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

Packaging Rules
To be awarded this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in thirty (30) units of competency, consisting of:- sixteen (16) core units, plus
- eight (8) specialist elective units in one (1) of the selected specialist groups relating to occupational streams, plus
- six (6) general elective units, of which:
- up to six (6) elective units may be chosen from the elective units list
- up to five (5) elective units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided that the units chosen contribute to the vocational outcome of this qualification and do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification.
1. Core Units
All sixteen (16) units must be completed.
2. Group A Vehicle Body Repair Specialist Elective Units
Eight (8) units to be chosen from one (1) of the specialist groups.

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry.
Traineeships and Apprenticeships
Part-time is defined as a minimum of 20 hours per week.
For elite athletes the minimum hours of employment are 7.5 hours per week, which can be averaged over six month periods.
