Description
This qualification covers workers who undertake specialized procedures related to sleep disturbances, and analyse and interpret sleep study recordings to provide a report for diagnostic purposes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTo gain entry into HLT50912 Diploma of Sleep Technology a candidate must demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition process, in the following units of competency from HLT41912 Certificate IV in Sleep Technology:

HLTFA311A Apply first aid
HLTHIR301C Communicate and work effectively in health
HLTIN301C Comply with infection control policies and procedures
HLTWHS300A Contribute to WHS processes
HLTSL401D Prepare environment for sleep studies
HLTSL402D Prepare client for sleep study procedure
HLTSL403D Perform diagnostic sleep study
HLTSL404D Perform treatment sleep study
HLTSL408D Perform home based assessments for sleep studies
PACKAGING RULES
Thirteen (13) units of competency are required for award of this qualification, including:
- six (6) core units
- seven (7) elective units
A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Other relevant electives listed
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Health and/or Community Services Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to two (2) units of competency packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in other relevant Training Packages or accredited courses where the details of those courses are available on TGA or other public listing
