Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to check machine performance and complete minor adjustments and maintenance on production machines.This unit applies to individuals working in accordance with established procedures on routine and minor maintenance tasks. The individual may also be the machine operator. This unit does not apply to machine mechanics who undertake more significant machine repair and maintenance.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.Work involves limited discretion, initiative and judgement on the job in own work, including liaison with specialist mechanics and technicians.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Operate machine and assess performance
- 1.1 Start and stop machine in accordance with manufacturer operating instructions
- 1.2 Monitor machine operation and confirm it is operating according to specifications
- 1.3 Inspect product output and confirm required quality is being achieved
- 1.4 Identify operational faults based on results of monitoring and inspection
2. Rectify minor machine faults
- 2.1 Rectify minor faults in machine and associated equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and workplace procedures
- 2.2 Complete accurate records of fault rectification in accordance with workplace procedures
- 2.3 Identify major faults and report in accordance with workplace procedures
3. Maintain effective machine operation
- 3.1 Clean machine in accordance with manufacturer cleaning instructions and work schedules
- 3.2 Complete routine maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer instructions and record in accordance with workplace procedures
- 3.3 Check machine to ensure correct operation after maintenance activities
