Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to make the creative arts accessible to people with a disability. The intended focus is providing people with disability access to experience the creative arts. It applies to individuals who work within the creative industry and require knowledge on making the arts accessible for people with disabilities, whether, this is the artists themselves or personnel within the organisation. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Determine access and inclusion requirements and identify existing barriers
- 1.1 Determine access requirements for people with disabilities to the venue, event or performance
- 1.2 Access and interpret relevant regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and workplace policies and procedures
- 1.3 Identify existing barriers for people with disabilities, including physical, content, ticketing, customer service and facilities
2. Develop a plan to promote access and inclusion for people with disabilities
- 2.1 Identify practices to meet the access requirements for people with disabilities
- 2.2 Identify technologies that can be incorporated to promote access
- 2.3 Produce draft plan to promote access and inclusion, ensuring that it meets financial constraints, scheduling requirements and compliance with legislation and regulation.
- 2.4 Discuss with relevant stakeholders to confirm access and inclusion requirements have been met
- 2.5 Finalise plan for implementation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
3. Implement access and inclusion plan
- 3.1 Co-ordinate integration of disability access and inclusion plan within the venue, event or performance
- 3.2 Check that the practices and technologies have been implemented as per the plan and are compliant with legislation and regulation
4. Monitor and review access and inclusion plans
- 4.1 Monitor the plan to determine potential areas for improvement
- 4.2 Revise access and inclusion plan based on observations and organisational practices
