Description
Rationale: A qualification aligned to the educational requirements for certification as a Marine Engine Driver Grade2 as described in Part D of the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV).
Successful completion will require competency in units that relate to work defined as characteristics of AQF Certificate3:
'Performance of a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, where some discretion and judgement is required in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures and within known time constraints. Applications may involve some responsibility for others. Participation in teams including group or team coordination may be involved'.

Traineeships and Apprenticeships
Part-time is defined as a minimum of 20 hours per week.
School students must be at least 16 years of age to comply with sea service requirements and cannot complete this qualification while at school. School based duration is 24 months. Training after Year 12 is required.
