Description
This qualification addresses work in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, under supervision within defined organisation guidelines.
These workers:
Design, implement and evaluate health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas
May be responsible for other workers
May work under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners.
Occupational titles may include:
Activities coordinator
Diversional therapy assistant
Community leisure coordinator
Leisure services coordinator / manager
Diversional therapist
Recreational activities officer coordinator

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTo gain entry into CHC50512 Diploma of Leisure and Health a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units of competency from CHC40608 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.
PACKAGING RULES
Fifteen (15) units are required for award of this qualification including:
- ten (10) core units
- five (5) elective units
A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A electives which must be selected for work at this level in leisure and health
- Group B electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Other relevant electives listed in the qualification outline
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Community Services and/or Health Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to three (3) units of competency packaged at the level
