Description

To enable learners to extend to public performance level, skills in the field
of dance study, through intensive practical training in a range of
representative Western dance techniques: Jazz, Tap, Modern and Classical.

To enable learners to research a broad section of Australian Aboriginal
cultural dance heritage, in depth and detail, and to extend their practical
training in traditional Aboriginal dance to public performance requirements.

To allow dance learners to become receptive to ethnic cultural variety, and to
enable them to develop versatility in the execution of dance.

To develop the learners’ understanding of the relationship between final
performance and dance training.

To equip learners with the knowledge and attitudes necessary to maintain their
bodies for optimum performance, through an extended training career.

To equip learners with the necessary skills and expertise to function as dance
practitioners, either in a teaching capacity, or as performing artists in the
profession.

To provide dance learners with an acceptable entry status, so that they may
continue formal dance studies at tertiary level in mainstream institutions.

To encourage dance learners to work creatively, utilising the traditional
Australian Aboriginal dance heritage as a springboard for the expression of
contemporary Australian culture in dance.

To provide dance learners with the necessary practice and expertise in the
public arena, and with the necessary arts management skills to function as a
self-sufficient group of performers, able to achieve professional independence.
